Paul-E-Palooza! or, The Best Training Event of the Year!

S0134099 What Is Paul-E-Palooza?
In 2012 the firearms and personal protection community suffered a loss, with the unexpected death of Paul Gomez. Gomez was known as a top-notch instructor, a prolific student (“training bum”), and an associate of some of the most sought-after schools and trainers in the industry. He was also as close to a historian as our community had, with an encyclopedic knowledge of training, practices and equipment. Everyone with an interest in self protection, firearms, and being a multi-skilled individual, will benefit from getting familiar with who Paul Gomez was, and the material he left behind.
Our memorial post about him, and his influence, can be found here.
Paul’s YouTube channel remains up, and is filled with amazing information.
And here is a round-table, from last years Paul-E-Palooza, moderated by John Johnston of Ballistic Radio, with many of the instructors and PEPII staff talking about Paul.
We all lost when Paul died, but as much of a blow as his death was to the industry, it was even more so to his family, particularly the three children he left behind. Paul-E-Palooza was created with a two-fold purpose, to remember and honor Paul with an event he’d have wanted to attend, and to raise money for a trust-fund for Paul’s kids to benefit their growing up and education. Without our friend, a loving father, to provide for them it was decided that the community would. Gomez had been one of the most giving members of our community, providing thousands of words and hours of video material for the benefit of everyone; What else could we do, but give back in some way?
Paul was an eclectic human being, to say the least, and any event in his memory would have to be something above and beyond the usual 2-day “gun class”. So, what would do? Two days of tactical smorgasbord, with good helpings of odd and unique sounded like a good start.
The first year brought together 30 trainers from as far away as the UK and as near as just up the road, covering topics like gunfighting, criminal psychology, medical skills, edged weapons, combatives, the history and future of the industry, and gunsmithing. The lineup of instructors was mixed together with a Saturday night auction that featured a wealth of gear, guns and accessories, donated by some of the best in the business. All of this, at a facility that offered open-air classrooms, a gladiatorial sand-pit for combatives, and a great outdoor range, along with room for camping.
And so, Paul E Palooza was born.
The now annual event is a celebration of life, and the skills and tools to defend and save lives, but with a serious twist of fun. The third Paul-E-Palooza is coming up in August of this year, on the 15th and 16th, and you can go here http://paulepalooza.com/ to register.

But, maybe you’re not convinced? Or still have no idea why you might want to go?

And what do people have to say about all of this?

“I had a great time, and learned some new stuff. I also got to meet up with some of the coolest people in the world.” Chuck Haggard https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?5126-Paul-E-Palooza-AAR

“one of the year’s best training events.  If you are looking for some professional firearms or combatives training, these guys are the best of the best.” Greg Ellifritz http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/paul-e-palooza-memorial-training-event-aar

“The conference was an amazing success! We had roughly 130 students sign up and raised over $40,000 for our Paul’s kids. The level of cooperation between all the instructors is something that is just never seen in the industry. There was absolutely no competition or ego. All of the instructors worked together and helped each other teach classes all in a cooperative effort to provide the best training experience for the students.” Greg Ellifritz http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/paul-e-palooza-2-aar

“One of my friends saw the list of speakers and mentioned “at least you will be ready when the zombie apocalypse will happen.” This conference had nothing to do with Zombies, prepping, or doomsday. Paul-E-Palooza HAS EVERYTHING TO DO With HEALTH, SURVIVAL, and SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. The people who attend are Cops, EMTs, Firefighters, Doctors, Military, Teachers, Coaches, Engineers, and other fields. The instructors were great, well informed, and spoke from experience. They would answer your questions and help you in any way. I would recommend this event to anyone who wants to maintain awareness and not become a victim.” Khara C.

“The best training conference I’ve attended. Shooting, fighting, stabbing, medical, gear and mindset related ‘lectures.’ And you choose which ones you attend. Best training dollar value, and the money goes to a great cause. “ Erik C.

“Not only is it the best deal in the industry, it is full of some of the best and smartest people I have ever met. And all the money goes to his kids! What is better that? “ Shooting Solutions LLC

Really, there should only be one more question you’re asking yourself…
